Experience Living History at Hermann Farm’s Civil War Reenactment!

Join us for a powerful Civil War reenactment that brings to life the historic events of the Battle at Hermann. This dramatic performance will take place on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, September 27, 2025, during the 3rd Annual Hermann Farm Heritage Festival | 1:00PM-5:00PM

  • Sunday, September 28 | 1:00PM-5:00PM

This year’s reenactment honors Captain Charles Campbell Manwaring, a prominent figure in Hermann’s history. Captain Manwaring was not only a captain in the Grand Army of the Republic, but also George Husmann’s business partner during the early days of Hermann Farm’s winegrowing legacy. He was ambushed and killed by bushwhackers along the riverfront in a violent and true episode of Missouri’s divided Civil War era. Today, he is buried alongside the Teubner family on the hill above the farm.

Step into the past as reenactors portray this pivotal moment in Hermann’s Civil War history with period-accurate uniforms, weaponry, and powerful storytelling. It’s a rare opportunity to witness local history unfold on the very ground where it happened.

Stay tuned for more details on Captain C.C. Manwaring’s Grand Ball, a companion event honoring his memory with music, dancing, and heritage-inspired celebration.
