Christmas Carriage Ride, Historic Homes Tour and Distillery Cheer

Carriage ride, guided tour of our Historic Homes decorated for Christmas & Distillery visit. Get in the holiday spirit with a trip back in time at historic Hermann Farm. Join our Black Shires as they transport you in holiday style around the Farm. You are sure to start feeling that Holiday magic when the horses start moving and the jingling of the sleigh bells fills the air. You will experience the Farm and Historic Homes decorated in period style.

Your adventure will begin at the beautiful Hermann Farm Distillery. After checking in you will load up into our surrey pulled by two of our Shire Draft Horses. Your carriage ride will take you past our historic barns and beautiful lake with a stop and tour of the Iconic 1847 Teubner-Husmann House. Then it is back on the carriage for a ride back to tour the historic Rasche homestead. Your tour also includes a complimentary tasting at the Hermann Farm Distillery. Enjoy a cup of Hot Chocolate or Spiced Hot Cider around the Fire Pit. Hermann Farm paraphernalia and a selection of our Spirits will be available for purchase.

Please Note that this Tour starts at the HERMANN FARM DISTILLERY, 28 Hermann Farm Road. It DOES NOT start at the Museum location on 526 E 1st Street. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO THE LOCATION WHERE THE TOUR STARTS. It is approximately 1.5 miles from the Museum location on 1st Street.

The Shire Experience

Indulge yourself in a unique opportunity to join Hermann Farm handlers and trainers on an unforgettable experience with the majestic shire draft horse.  The experience will start at the Hermann Farm Stone Barn. Depending on group size, participants will hop aboard our leon, farm wagon or four-seat surrey and embark on a picturesque and leisurely ride through the Farm. The ride will conclude back at the Stone Barn and a behind-the-scenes look of the shires home will take place. Guests will learn about the history, care, harnessing and driving of these magnificent horses. Expect to witness these gentle giants doing what they have been bred for decades to do and see the power and unique relationship of trust and partnership that exists between handlers and the shire draft breed. Depending on the size of your group, this experience can be adjusted to suit what you are most interested in learning about this breed.

Carriage Ride with Shire Horses

Immerse yourself in an informative peaceful 30-minute tour of the historic Hermann Farm, transported via carriage by the magnificent team of shire draft horses. Enjoy the rhythmic cadence of the shire’s hooves as your driver tells the significance and history of the draft horse breed to the agricultural industry. Delve into the Farm’s past when hearing the stories of those who first settled in Hermann, and catch a glimpse of their original homesteads. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Missouri Mule, deer, eagles, wild turkeys, geese, Katahdin Sheep and Nigerian Dwarf Goat that also call the Farm home.

Grand Tram Tour of Hermann Farm

The Grand Tram Tour allows guests to immerse themselves in all the Farm has to offer and provides insight to what farm life was like during the mid-1800s. When taking the Tram Tour, guests will be transported through the Farm via a fully-covered tram accompanied with a knowledgeable guide. Guests will learn the history of Hermann along with the legacy of Charles Teubner, George Husmann and Charles Manwaring. In addition, tours of the 1847 Teubner-Husmann home, the Hermann Farm stone barn and the 19th century Rasche homestead will be included. Towards the end of this tour, guests will be treated to a visit with the shire horses and a tasting at the Hermann Farm Distillery.

Your 1.5-hour guided tour of our Hermann Farm Distillery, will engage you in the rich heritage of spirits in Missouri. Discover the artistry behind our exceptional spirits, meticulously crafted from Hermann Farm grown ingredients and aged in authentic Missouri white oak casks. Wander through our aging barn, brandy cellar, and still room, where each step unveils the legendary craftsmanship behind our acclaimed lineup of spirits, including Sophie’s Gin, Rasche Rye, and Cask Strength Bourbon. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Missouri as you savor a tasting of our handcrafted creations, all while soaking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and the peacefulness of Hermann Farm.
