Rasche Homestead
This is the original site of the home of the Rasche family, where parents Heinrich (Henry) and Dorothea and their six daughters — Sophie, Mary (Maria), Wilhelmine, Augusta, Dorothea and Ida — lived and worked. While the original home no longer exists due to a fire in the mid-1900s, the current building is from the same time period as the original. It was sourced from nearby in Swiss, Missouri, mere 12 miles from Hermann, because it fit the exact footprint of the original home. The original foundation of the Rasche home, which is all that was left after the fire, was partially used in the reconstruction of the building that stands here now.
